Josephine Rober, 97, holds her great-granddaughter, 'Zilya' (one-day-old)

Jo Rober, 97, smiles as she holds her newest (one-day-old) great-grandchild.  “Zilya” who was born on Feb 17th.  The happy parents are Jo’s grandson, Kyle, and his wife, Katya. 

They live about 6 blocks from Leah and Mike, parents of another of  Jo’s great-grandaughters, “Peyton”, who gets lots of prayers from folks here at FPC Luverne. 

In her years in education and one-room schools, Josephine Rober was teacher-mom-special-person to many school children throughout Rock County, MN. Many of those school children are now grandparents and great-grandparents themselves.

So as Jo winters with her family in the Twin Cities, we wish her many precious moments of ‘baby-holding’ and good family time.

Hurry back to Luverne, Jo, when the weather turns green.  Our prayers are with you.

On January 29th, 2012, Lincoln Curtis Bartholomaus, son of Anthony and Ashley Bartholomaus, was presented to the congregation for baptism.  His 4 year-old brother, Nolan, also assisted Pastor Terry Morse and witnessed the event. Congratulations to the happy family, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

Anthony and Ashley Bartholomaus bring their infant son, Lincoln Curtis Bartholomaus, to the Baptismal font. Their four year old son, Nolan, looks on and assists Pastor Terry Morse.

In 2011, ten (10)Baptisms were celebrated by the congregation. Nine were for infants and one was for an adult.  We welcome and embrace these families with our nurture, love and prayers. CONGRATULATIONS.

Christmas Carolers Brought Sounds of the Season to Joe and Christie Wessels this week. The Wessels will celebrate their 70th Wedding Anniversary on January 2nd, 2012

70th Wedding Anniversary celebrations have started early for Joe and Christie Wessels.

Carolers from First Presbyterian Church brought the sounds of Christmas to families this week.  Here they are posing for a photo at Joe and Christie Wessels home after delivering their vocal gift.

The Wessels (Joe and Christie) will celebrate their 70th Wedding anniversary on Monday Jan 2nd. As the story is told, they planned to be married on New Years Day 1942, but a Minnesota snow storm (remember those?) changed their plans.  So the next day the horses were hitched up to clear a path.  The young couple were married on Jan 2nd at the Bethel Reformed Church near Ellsworth.
